Pulled Apart

br

She slid her fingers down every string,

pulled apart the bone and skin,

her touch brought out the wild thing,

spirit lifted, she felt the sting,

for in her eyes there was life and death,

she broke apart  that fading soul,

whispered words that had been unsaid,

she shattered just to make it whole,

her hands play on in fallen hair,

she pulls against the fires from within,

sparks that fly into the air,

the embers left to smolder, where she’s been,

she never saw that side of sate,

the bleeding heart she left to lay,

the sorrow in her lover’s fate,

easier to go…than to stay…

She slid her fingers down every string,

pulled apart the heart that gave,

still she stands holding everything,

a forever that has been enslaved,

eyes that search the endless night,

promised to a waning moon,

a wish on stars that fall into her light,

and time that ends

….too soon
